Margot Foster from Bush Telegraph
has been awarded an Australian Antarctic Arts Fellowship and has
recently set off on the Australian Antarctic Division Ship, Aurora
Australis to visit Macquarie Island in the subantarctic,
as well as the Antarctic mainland.
While Margot is away, she'll be sending back sounds and pictures
and we'll be publishing them here. You can also send Margot messages
or questions through our guestbook, and she'll reply to as many
of you as she can.
Here's a message from Margot, 'your
ear on Antarctica'
"Right now I'm on board the Aurora Australis travelling
south to Mawson and Casey and returning via Macquarie Island. This
is the final voyage of the season so we are taking in the last supplies
and people and bringing others back.
"I'm here as one of the Antarctic Arts Fellows to listen for
and collect the sounds of the driest, coldest and windiest continent
on earth.
"Come with me and hear the bird and animal life along with the humans
in their daily battle for survival."
