Bulls make strong start to chase

Posted November 21, 2008 19:15:00

Queensland was 1 for 72 at stumps on day one of its Sheffield Shield clash against New South Wales at the SCG, chasing the Blues' first innings total of 210.

Ryan Broad fell for a golden duck to get the Bulls' chase off to a poor start, but fellow opener Nick Kruger (40 not out) and veteran number three Martin Love (29 not out) steadied the ship to move to within 138 runs of the Blues.

Earlier, Chris Swan led the Queensland attack with 4 for 21 off 16 overs as the Blues were bowled out in 79 overs.

Spin bowler Beau Casson (63) was the only New South Wales batsman to pass 50, as all-rounder James Hopes (3 for 54) also contributed to the Blues' demise.
