Posted November 12, 2008 02:00:00

Twenty-one candidates are running for the political leadership on the Aboriginal lands in South Australia's far north-west.

The State Electoral Office has closed nominations for positions on the APY Lands governing board this evening.

Communities go to the polls on December 3.

The candidates include three women, for the first time in three years, and the incumbent board chairman Bernard Singer.

Two candidates have been elected unopposed to the 10 member board.
